Subtle Plaster Finish – 2/6/2012
Polished plasters often draw the eye to them with their swirls of colors that flow in and out of each other. Sometimes, however, we have clients who like the swirling colors, but are turned off by the amount of contrast between the colors in the finish. We are able to provide polished plasters that do not catch the eye from far away, but when seen close up are very attractive.
Dealing With Ugly Bricks – 01/31/2012
Exposed bricks on the inside of your home can give a great rustic feel. Whether they comprise an entire wall or surround the fireplace, bricks are generally a great look. However, sometimes your home will have exposed bricks that are a color you dislike or clash with the decor you prefer.
Many people don’t paint the bricks because they dislike the look of painted brick. What they may not know is that we are capable of changing the look of your brick while still leaving them looking as if they were their natural color.
Here are two examples of bricks that clients were unhappy with (left column) and what we were able to do with them (right column).
Matching Stain With Glaze – 01/04/2012
A client had an oak floor that had recently been stained a dark brown color. They replaced their windows and window frames in the master bedroom with some type of fir that would not look the same as the floor once stained. Using a paint base and a mixture of different color glazes, we were able to make their windows look like their floor.

Custom Made Wall Papers – 11/13/2011
Here are a couple examples of some sample wall papers we made this past year. What’s not always conveyed in photographs is the very real textures we are able to give to these papers. Both of these samples also have metallic elements to them, which reflects light differently at different angles.
Church Nursery – 8/17/2011
This church had us come up with several fun things for their children’s area. We created mostly interactive pieces that fit into their natural theme. We made a bear for kids to climb on, along with a set of stacked stones to climb as well.
We turned a pillar into a tree with working swings.
Using PVC pipes, we came up with a game for kids to race golf balls.
A penguin made from carvable cement has a working bill that is full of fish-shaped bean bags.
There’s a long wall with multiple wheels to turn.
Custom Made Papers – 3/12/2011
This women’s clothing store wanted a custom-made paper wallcovering that fit the color theme of their sales floor. The owner gave us three colors (deep pink, chocolate brown, & champagne) to work with. We decided that we would have circle cut pieces to give the finish a more feminine aura. We came up with nearly 10 different finishes on different circles and put them all on the wall in random order.
The finish ended up fitting in quite well with the rest of the store’s decor.

Creativity With Paints – 1/5/2011
Customers often limit themselves to a single color of paint for a room, when one can choose differently colors for each surface and/or plane. Walls and trim can be different colors. Separate walls can be separate colors. A single wall can be broken up into more than one color using stripes or some other shape.
We have often found brick fireplaces that have been painted, causing them to lose their prominence in the room. This fireplace was painted white, causing it to nearly disappear into the background of a light colored wall. Using several different shades of paint, we gave the bricks in the fireplace a differently look, making the fireplace the focal point of the room once again.
Engineered Cement – 12/23/2010
Oftentimes homeowners acquire homes that they love, but may have particular aspects that do not match their taste. Some of these things may seem like they are unchangeable, such as brick color, heavily textured walls, or as in this case, an extremely dark stone wall. Because we are a creative company, we can often come up with solutions to these seemingly unchangeable situations. We were able to use a sprayed on cement product to cover the original stones. We then used mineral stains to achieve a color that was much less oppressive in the room.
We do pride ourselves on our high end finishes, but we are also able to help customers find cost-saving solutions to their problems.
Color Matching – 9/20/2010
Homeowners are not always able to get the look they were hoping for in the traditional manner. These particular clients had both cedar and glulam support beams visible on the great room ceiling. As an ascetic choice, they also added pre-Civil War oak beams to the room. This left them with three clashing wood types visible in one room. The homeowners were hoping to have the cedar beams and glulams look similar to the much older oak beams.
We applied an acrylic plaster to the glulams to give them a rough, splintery look. We attacked the cedar beams with knives, rasps, and even a Dremel to remove straight corners, add grain separations, and create adze marks. Then we used paints and glazes of various colors to match the shades of the older wood. The transformation from new woods into weathered beams is complete.
